Brief
Passion project to create an art gallery’s branding

About Made by Muse
Art galleries are some of the most inspiring places, not just for creatives, but for everyone who enjoys art. Made by Muse is an art gallery in London that exhibits work that focuses on letting the audience interpret it in their own way.
They require branding to also translate this idea into their visual identity.
Logo design
The logo is made using the Avenir typeface in Black. It is written in lowercase to add to a welcoming atmosphere, which is desirable for an art gallery. The circles add an artistic effect and also allow the audience to interpret their meaning.
To make this a bit easier, the idea behind it was to accompany each character that does not have a counter (m, u, y, s) with a circle. That way, the empty space is filled. Just like the art gallery provides empty space for artists to fill it with their work.
This reflects the intention of the gallery in the logo.

Way finding in galleries and museums is important since it needs to be clear while also reflecting the brand. For this reason, I re-used the circles from the logo and compiled them closer together in different sizes to create something that can be used as a brand pattern.
Using the shapes that can be created by placing differently sized circles together, the way finding can be branded. This idea can also be taken further to the interior and exterior design of the building. That will also make it recognisable from afar.
Poster design
Every art gallery has exhibitions and events for which poster material is required. The Made by Muse poster design is recognisable through the use of the yellow circles throughout. This is contrasted by the grey / black / white images or backgrounds used. The yellow adds a pop of colour which makes the posters unique and modern.
To add variety and originality to each poster design, the approach should be artistic. The use of an image or a colour for the background can vary to create a design that best reflects the exhibition.
Though every poster should have some form of yellow circle(s) to signify the brand.
